Did you know Monster books are actually good for kids?

I can’t stress enough how much older kids still like picture books. Some picture books are designed specifically with older kids in mind. That’s what these are. Christmas Picture books for older kids. Though young ones will still enjoy them too.

Blueberries for Sal is one of those books I don't mind reading over and again. It inspired this Blueberry Counting Game which provides a fun way for children to practice numeral identification, basic counting skills, and one-to-one correspondence. Once you've read the book with your preschooler, kindergartener, or other young kids, I encourage you to try the game.

These are just general guidelines for doing an advent picture book tree.  There is no right or wrong way to do it.  The point is to have fun and read some of the many great picture books out there.

We can learn a lot from Ella Fitzgerald. She was a bold woman who followed her dreams despite many challenges. When listening to the audiobook, I caught my daughter drumming her hands. This inspired me to create a snare drum for her out of recycled materials.
