The Book with No Pictures: Reviewed by Spark and Pook

The Book with No Pictures is a children's book written by writer/ actor, BJ Novak. Perhaps best known for his work on the hit TV Series, The Office, BJ Novak brings his comedic talent to this New York Times bestseller.Oftentimes, children are put off by books that don't have pictures, but with this non-picture book, the author shows us that words alone can be just as entertaining, if not more.The idea behind this book is that whoever is reading it, must read exactly what the words say. This results in the reader (usually a grown-up) saying pretty ridiculous things, which is sure to be pure delight for the listener (children). If read with the inflection intended by the author (apparent by the use of large colorful font contrasted by tiny black font) it is bound to lead to an uproarious read-aloud session.The only downside to this book is that your kids may ask you to read it over and over and over again.This book is recommended for children ages 5-8 (though I personally think you could stretch that on either end).
